Brief Description

Millions of readers have fallen in love with Ava's bestselling books...come join the family.

International Bestselling Author Ava Miles shares a humorous and romantic story about finding love in the most unusual places.

When Peggy McBride moves to Dare Valley, Colorado, the last thing she wants is to meet a man. If she's learned one thing from her divorce, it's that love is a messy business, and as a single mom and the new deputy sheriff, she has her hands full. But when hotel magnate and poker player Mac Maven moves to town, she becomes enthralled by the very last man she would ever consider dating...

Millionaire Mac Maven has come to Dare with ambitious plans for his new project, the restoration of The Grand Mountain Hotel as a boutique poker venue. Only one person offers him a less than warm welcome: Deputy Sheriff Peggy McBride, who is dead set against gambling. But although Peggy's a fierce opponent, Mac senses a tenderness and passion within her that he longs to free. Having helped his sister raise her teenage son, he understands Peggy, and can see past her tough-as-nails exterior.

When a threat to Mac's hotel surfaces, he and Peggy must join forces to find out who's responsible. Working together ignites the white-hot connection between them, and their cooperation takes a decidedly personal turn. But can Mac convince Peggy to set their differences aside and take a gamble on love?

  • Great Story!

I hated seeing Peggy & Mac's story end! It was beautifully written.

Loved this book. Awesome characters and storyline. Wish I lived in Dare. ;-)
  • Unlikable lead

    By baseballgirl123
I agree with Kimmiesue, I did not like Peggy's character either. I found her to be not just prickly but socially awkward. Her son was so cute and Mac is awesome, I have no idea how he stood by her. Power of love. My favorite characters in this series continue to be Jill and Arthur. I've loved all the other books in the series.
  • Love the series, but horrible female lead

    By Mashes2288
I truly love this author, this series, and for the most part - all the characters. However, I truly could not stand Peggy. She's not a nice person. She's narrow minded, a liar/ hypocrite. Rude, abrasive, inconsiderate, impatient, cruel, manipulative, harsh, demeaning... And honestly the way she's incapable of making normal distinctions between civic duty and being a human, common sense - it almost seems she's mentally... Off somehow. I honestly thought she seemed to belong in the autism spectrum disorder she's so intensely rigidly set in her ways and her inner monologue shows her inability to make normal connections others make in the day to day reasonings of events in life and personal interactions with situations and people. I thoroughly dislike her as a character. She's a horrible person. It was the most unrealistic romance novel ever. No one in actuality would ever like this woman let along love her. She's awful.
  • Dare to love

    By CindyB72
What a breath of fresh air! I absolutely LOVE this series. Starting with Nora Roberts Land, I fell in love with this author and her fantastic writing. The characters are real, the dialog witty and engaging. Just enough sizzle with the romance will leave you wanting more. I've found a new favorite in Ava Miles, Nora Roberts is who hooked me.. If you're a fan, read these books... You won't be disappointed. Keep writing Ava!
  • The Grand Opening

I have read 3 of Ava Miles books so far and am just starting the 4th one. I love the books and all of the characters. I wake up early each morning just to have a little more time to read her books. It's been a long time since I have been this excited about a book. I always want to know what the characters are doing after I finish a book and I love these books because now I can see for myself. Please keep them coming.

Great read. This was the third book I read by Ava Miles. It was hard to put down the book. It kept my interest throughout, great pace and interesting characters. Looking forward to reading the next book about the Dare inhabitants.
  • Bad Female Lead

    By Kimmiesue73
It was interesting because I have never disliked a female lead character so much. I loved Mac but there is nothing about Peg that could make me understand why anyone would even like her. She was awful and prickly to almost everyone throughout the book. It almost ruined it for me.
